Singer Olly Murs has revealed that he had to rush to hospital for an emergency operation as doctors feared he was suffering from sepsis following a knee operation.
The Voice judge had a metal plate inserted in his knee last year during a routine operation, but three months later doctors suspected it had become infected and feared it might be sepsis.
In an interview with The Sun Murs explained that his surgeon called and told him to "come to London now" as they needed to operate "within the next couple of hours".
The Troublemaker singer added: "They had to open me up again in case the infection spread. So it got nasty."
The 36-year-old singer also revealed that he didn't tell his girlfriend, Amelia Tank, about the operation as she was on a hen weekend in Ibiza "having the time of her life."
Murs, who was once a keen footballer, had the initial surgery in June 2019 to reconstruct a torn ligament in his knee.
He said the injury had put an end to his dreams of becoming a professional footballer more than a decade ago.
