Pick of the Day
Country Music, 11.10pm, RTÉ One
This is essential viewing for anyone with an interest in music and/or social history.
Once again, PBS and Ken Burns deliver an exceptional documentary series, although it’s more a broad look than a deep one. After all, country music has a rich and varied history.
The first episode focuses on the 1930s, where the rise of radio and phonographs allowed the hillbilly-based music to reach an audience beyond its Southern roots and unique influences.
The Carter Family proved popular with their renditions of ballads and old hymns, while Jimmie Rodgers became country music's first star - until his early death from tuberculosis.

The Truth About Cosmetic Treatments, 8.00pm, BBC One
The cosmetic treatment industry is open for business again. As lockdown eases, demand is on the rise for new non-invasive procedures like injectable fillers and fat freezing.
But the UK is one of the only countries in the world where this industry is almost completely unregulated.
In this two-part programme, medical journalist Michael Mosley teams up with blogger and journalist Mehreen Baig to scrutinise the science and safety of cosmetic treatments - and put them to the test.
This episode is all about treatments for the face. Mehreen finds out what a surgery-free nose job involves, and if it really works.
She also follows an experiment that pits three skin-tightening treatments against each other and meets a woman undergoing a cutting-edge stem cell facelift.
Meanwhile, Michael investigates the dangers of unregulated injectable fillers and asks whether cosmetic treatments like fillers and Botox really make people any more attractive.

The Nolans Go Cruising, 10.00pm, Quest Red
It’s fair to say that the singing sisters have really captured people’s hearts as well as their imaginations during this show’s run.
Tonight Coleen, Linda, Maureen and Anne complete their cruise around the Mediterranean together on a luxury ship, and the show's been made all the more poignant with the news in recent weeks that Anne and Linda are both battling cancer.
Part travelogue, part performance and with a huge chunk of family dynamics (and plenty of laughs), it’s been a fascinating look at the siblings in their first shared trip and singing reunion in many years.
