Seattle's SYML has just released his new song, The Dark. We ask him the BIG questions...
Tell us three things about yourself?
I am a father of two lovely children.
I love debating large and dark topics over a drink.
I am starting to really miss live music, as a fan and a performer.
How would you describe your music?
I create most of my music from a visual place, literally and metaphorically. I write about what I observe in myself and others. I am moved by people and places in this world and I try to write honestly about them.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Patrick Watson, Jeff Buckley, Chet Baker, Nina Simone.
How did you occupy yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?
I've been running a lot. Also, challenging myself in the kitchen with food and cocktails.
What's your favourite song right now?
Taylor Swift - exile.
Favourite lyric of all time?
"It's never over. She's a tear that hangs inside my soul forever." - Jeff Buckley from Lover, You Should've Come Over.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
All I Want Is You - U2.
