The movie will be written by Wilde's Booksmart partner Katie Silberman with Amy Pascal producing. Rachel O'Connor will exec-produce.
Spider-Woman has been the alter ego for many characters over the years, including Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane Watson, Julia Carpenter and Jessica Drew.
Wilde is currently in pre-production on the psychological thriller Don't Worry, Darling. She is also developing the gymnast drama Perfect at Searchlight, based on the life story of Olympian Kerri Strug.
Wilde, Silberman and Pascal are also working on a Christmas buddy film at Universal, which they hope to complete before beginning on the Marvel project.
