After celebrating its 25th anniversary in July, cult American high school movie Clueless is returning for what is described as "a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted" reboot.

The 1995 comedy film, which starred Alicia Silverstone, the late Brittany Murphy, and Stacey Dash, was previously revived as a sitcom, which ran for two seasons from 1996 to 1999.

The new Clueless series will focus on the character of Dionne, played by Stacey Dash in the movie and the previous TV spin-off.

The show is being described as "a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sunglasses-wearing, oat milk latté and Adderall-fuelled look at what happens when the high school queen bee Cher disappears and her lifelong No. 2 Dionne steps into Cher's vacant Air Jordans.

"How does Dionne deal with the pressures of being the new most popular girl in school, while also unravelling the mystery of what happened to her best friend?"

Peacock, the on-demand service, which is also remaking nineties high school series Saved By the Bell, is making the new series and it has been in development since late last year, with writers Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey (Will & Grace).
