Five live concerts, featuring some of Ireland's top musicians are taking place today in Ennis, Cork City, Wexford, Baile Mhúirne and Carrick on Shannon.

Audiences will enjoy live music from the Albiez Trio, who take to the stage tonight at glór, bringing their unique, globally enriched style of traditional music to Ennis.

virtuoso sibling duo Ioana Petcu-Colan and Alex Petcu presented a bold and beautiful violin and percussion lunchtime programme at Triskel Arts Centre, Cork City, and Wexford music-lovers can expect stories in song during a musical performance from old friends Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh and Gerry O'Beirne at the National Opera House in Wexford.

Baile Mhúirne’s Ionad Cultúrtha hosts a night of jazz with vocalist Christine Tobin and guitarist Phil Robson, while The Dock Summer Sessions at The Market Yard in Carrick-On-Shannon presents a special outdoor concert with Irish traditional tunes by Dermot Byrne and Steve Cooney.

Ahead of the gigs, CEO of Music Network Sharon Rollston said: "We have all deeply missed the live music experience since lockdown back in March and it is great to be able to offer people the opportunity to hear musicians perform in person again."

Music Network’s partner venues have been working hard to ensure that audience members can enjoy live music again in an environment that is as safe and as comfortable as possible, in adherence with current public health guidelines.

Music Network: Live and Local forms part of a larger initiative, Ireland on Stage Live, with live music, theatre, comedy and dance performances taking place throughout Ireland on August 14.
