Disney has snapped-up Young Offenders creator Peter Foott to work on a comedy for its online streaming channel. Disney+.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 43-year-old will rewrite a script by Tyler Burton Smith, who penned the script for the 2019 horror movie Child's Play.

The new project is called Spooked, which is described as a "Halloween supernatural comedy".

It will be produced by Dan Lin, who produced Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes film starring Jude Law and Robert Downey Jnr, and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback.

Although little is known about the project, it is understood to be based around trick or treaters who turn into the character they dress up in one Halloween night.

Peter Foott

Cork native Foott first came to prominence when he directed the Rubberbandits’ legendary Horse Outside video.

He followed that with The Young Offenders feature film, which featured the now familiar sight of two hapless Cork city teenagers, Conor (played by Alex Murphy) and Jock (played Chris Walley).

That filmed spawned the TV series, which is currently in its third season on Friday nights on RTÉ One, and features Foott's wife, Hilary Rose, who plays Mairéad MacSweeney, Conor’s mother.
