Dermot Kennedy has said he is thrilled he managed to find love before he found fame with his girlfriend of seven years.

The 28-year-old singer, who is in a long-term relationship with 2015's Dublin Rose Aisling Finnegan, admitted he is grateful he found his partner before his career took off.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, the Outnumbered hitmaker was asked if having a long-term girlfriend has kept him grounded over the past few years.

"It absolutely does, because if I was in a situation now where things were kicking off – and I thought about this quite a bit – and if you're in a scenario where you were trying to find somebody it would be so hard to get to the bottom of people’s motives," he said.
