Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden is taking a "leave of absence" from the band after he was arrested in late June for domestic violence.
The musician was taken into custody on June 27, and is currently free on bail. He is due to appear in court on September 29.
Following his arrest, a spokesperson for the band said: "We are deeply devastated by this disappointing news.
"As we learn more, we are looking at this very seriously. For now, we are allowing all of the individuals involved the space to work things through."
Madden has now confirmed he is stepping down from the band to take care of his personal issues.
In a statement to People, he said: "I have some things that I need to deal with and address right now and so I have decided to take a leave of absence from Maroon 5 for the foreseeable future.
"During this time, I do not want to be a distraction to my bandmates. I wish them the absolute best."
