Comedian Michael McIntyre has been lined up to host The Wheel, a new Saturday night BBC One game show.

The hour-long show will run for 10 episodes but a release date or specific format details have yet to be confirmed, according to comedy website Chortle.

Speaking to Chortle, McIntyre, who recently admitted his chat show didn't work, said, "I am thrilled to be hosting a show that does reinvent the wheel.

"Contestants will be competing to win big money, celebrity experts will have their knowledge put the test and I will desperately be trying to avoid too many puns.

"I simply can't wait to get behind the wheel, I'm dizzy with excitement."

The Wheel is the second new show to be announced by the BBC in recent days, following "mystery music show" I Can See Your Voice.

Adapted from the Korean format of the same name, the show is described as a "primetime mystery music guessing game that promises a whole new take on the singing game show genre".
