Chris Hemsworth has revealed that he will experience a dramatic physical transformation to play 1980s wrestling legend Hulk Hogan in a new movie from Joker director Todd Phillips.

"This movie is going to be a really fun project," the 36-year-old Australian actor told Total Film. "As you can imagine, the preparation for the role will be insanely physical. I will have to put on more size than I put on for Thor.

"There is the accent as well as the physicality and the attitude," said the Marvel actor. "I will also have to do a deep dive into the rabbit hole of the wrestling world which I'm really looking forward to."

Hemsworth also reflected on the fun of adopting Hogan's trademark moustache. "I’m going to be blonde, probably balding and with a 'tache," he said.

However, Hemsworth indicated that the film has 'quite a way' to go before production begins, and a script has not been sent to him.

The wrestling fraternity reacted with some dismay after it was revealed that the star would portray Hogan in the forthcoming Netflix biopic. Wrestling commentator Bryan Alvarez said that Hemsworth was not suitable to play Hogan, given the actor's 'regular size'.
