Lady Gaga has said older women in the music industry have failed to support her and admits "it's proven difficult for me to have someone in my life who would show me the way.''

The 34-year-old singer claims she hasn't received any guidance from other female artists, except from Celine Dion.

''The truth is I've had a hard time with older women, other than Celine Dion," Gaga told Apple.

''In terms of having a female mentor who goes, 'This is how it's done' - it's proven difficult for me to have someone in my life who would show me the way," she added.

Gaga recently opened up about her desire to get married and have children and admitted she is "excited" about the future.
