Galway's Niamh Regan has just released new track Save the Day ahead of the release of her debut album, Hemet, in August. We ask her the BIG questions.

Tell us three things about yourself?
I am still a student (almost a qualified primary school teacher). I'm in a Californian band called Hippie Cream. I'm 5'6".

How would you describe your music?
I would describe it as easy listening indie folk. I have been told and have read in reviews that my music reminds people of the likes of Laura Marling, Melody Gardot and Lisa Hannigan. However, my album Hemet, which will be out on August 10, has taken a great deal of inspiration from the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Van Morrison and Tom Waits.

Who are your musical inspirations?
I mention quite a few in the above question, but some other musicians that have inspired me to date would be Bob Dylan, Rachel Sermanni, John Prine, Dolores Keane, Nina Simone and Paddy Fahy.

How have you been occupying yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?
I live out in the country, so between farming, gardening and playing music the lockdown has been ok.

What's your favourite song right now?
My favourite song right now is Kate Tempest - People's Faces and Denise Chaila - Dual Citizenship.

Favourite lyric of all time?
Difficult question. It's all mood-dependent, but these two came to mind straight away:
"Come down off the cross, we can use the wood. You gotta come on up to the house." - Tom Waits

"I'm going in the woods with a stick. I'm going by the stream just to sit." - Mick Flannery

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
Maybe Friday I'm in Love by The Cure...
