Singer Bonnie Pointer, who found fame with her siblings in The Pointer Sisters, has died. She was 69.
In a statement, Bonnie Pointer's sister Anita Pointer said: "It is with great sadness that I have to announce to the fans of The Pointer Sisters that my sister, Bonnie died this morning. Our family is devastated, on behalf of my siblings and I and the entire Pointer family, we ask for your prayers at this time."
"Bonnie was my best friend and we talked every day, we never had a fight in our life, I already miss her and I will see her again one day," Anita Pointer added. A cause of death was not given.
Together with her sister June, Bonnie Pointer began The Pointer Sisters as a duo in the 1960s. They were later joined by Anita and another sister, Ruth.
Bonnie Pointer sang on Pointers Sisters hits including Yes We Can and Fairytale before embarking on a successful solo career. The Pointer Sisters went on as a trio to have more success in the 1980s with hits including Slow Hand, Jump (For My Love) and So Excited.
Bonnie Pointer is survived by her sisters Anita and Ruth and brothers Aaron and Fritz. Their sister June passed away from cancer at the age of 52 in April 2006.
