Prolific Dublin musician Conor Furlong has released his new album, Vibrating at the Speed of Light. We asked him the BIG questions . . .

Tell us three things about yourself?

I am incredibly boring so I'll just mention a few things that have happened to me:

1. Britney Spears follows me on Twitter. I mean, she follows 370,000 other people as well, but we’ll gloss over that.

Tweet me, baby, one more time

2. I once swam off the coast of Monaco with Helena Christensen. Well, she swam past me, and I didn’t realise it was her until moments later, BUT STILL.

3. I once met David Hasselhoff and we chatted about the fall of the Berlin Wall, and I can confirm that he is as much of a legend in person as you’d hope. He didn’t sing Looking For Freedom at me but it was still good.

How would you describe your music?

I’d love to be able to say something interesting like "Bosnian folk music meets Albanian hip hop and West Village jazz fusion". Sadly, "alternative pop" is probably more accurate.

Who are your musical inspirations?

A-ha, R.E.M., The Beach Boys, David Bowie, AIR, The Monkees, ABBA, Phil Spector and Beck, among many others

How are you occupying yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?

I’m quite an introvert. I love being at home. So, that part of this situation hasn’t bothered me at all. Watching films, listening to music, writing music. I’ve also really enjoyed walking around Dublin during this period. It’s so peaceful and quiet. Free of noise, pollution, and crowds of people rushing everywhere. Whilst we all obviously want the deadly threat from this horrific pandemic over, when it is over I will miss the tranquility of the city as it exists right now. I hope whatever 'normal’ awaits us when this is all over isn’t the old normal because that was actually not very pleasant. But that’s a longer discussion!

What’s your favourite song right now?

I really like This Is What They Say by Carly Rae Jepsen, from her new album Dedicated Side B.

Favourite lyric of all time?

This is a tough one. I don’t really have one stand alone favourite, there are so many beautiful lyrics that I love. Off the top of my head, this one comes to mind, just because it’s so magnificently outrageous and hilarious:

"It's not the side-effects of the cocaine
I'm thinking that it must be love"
David Bowie - Station to Station

If  you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?

Dancing Queen by ABBA. It is what every songwriter, producer, arranger, performer searches hopelessly for: it is perfect.
