"Limerick-born, Kildare-bred, Stonybatter-based" Ev Carm has just released his debut single Laugh Again. We asked him the BIG questions.

Tell us three things about yourself?
I'm 23-years-old, I currently live in Dublin, and I hit my annual peak when stone fruit season begins.

How would you describe your music?
I would describe my music as 'Textural Music', because layering sounds and creating texture is a massive part of my creative process when working.

Who are your musical inspirations?
I've always been a huge fan of Brian Wilson. The first time I heard Pet Sounds it really opened my eyes to so many new ways of approaching arrangements in a pop context. I'm also hugely inspired by Arthur Russell, Kevin Shields, Kate Bush and Captain Beefheart.

How are you occupying yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?
I'm working pretty much full-time as a greengrocer right now, even throughout the lockdown, so that's kept me occupied. I've also been cycling a lot and spending a lot of time in the Phoenix Park since I'm lucky enough to live right beside it. Just spending as much of my time outside as I can.

What's your favourite song right now?
Right now I'm obsessed with Babies by Pulp. I just can't get enough of it.

Favourite lyric of all time?
That's a really hard question. Right now I would say the chorus of I Shall Be Released, written by Bob Dylan, but first recorded as the last track on The Band's first record: "I see my light come shining/From the west down to the east/Any day now, any day now/I shall be released."  Don't hold me to that, though. I could change my mind.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
I Want You Back by The Jackson 5. I've never gotten tired of that song in all my life and I don't plan on starting anytime soon. It's perfect pop.

Where can people find your music/more information?
People can find my music on Spotify. For more information you can find me on Instagram @evcarm, or you can look up 'andfriends records' to stay updated on new releases from myself or my label mates.
