Calvin Harris has revealed how doctors saved his life in 2014 after his heart stopped.

The world-renowned DJ recalled the incident on Twitter and described 2014 as an "interesting year".

Explaining how his heart stopped and he was resuscitated, the 36-year-old wrote: "Interesting year for me 2014, started with me knocking myself off number 1 in the UK and ended with my heart getting restarted in the ER."

In March of the same year, Harris reached number one with his catchy track Summer, while his fourth studio album, Motion, debuted at number two in the UK charts and number five in the US.

A few months later in November, he pulled out of Glasgow's MTV European Music Awards with just 24 hours notice, tweeting at the time:

"No EMAs for me this weekend. Got some heart problems. Heading home to see if it can be fixed x."

Harris later confirmed he had been diagnosed with arrhythmia, a problem with the heart's rhythm.

In 2018, Harris opened up on his health issues and said he was drinking two bottles of whiskey a night before giving up alcohol four years prior.
