Normal People star Paul Mescal has told BBC One's The One Show that he was recently asked for his first socially distant selfie.

The Kildare actor and co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones joined The One Show on Monday night to discuss experiencing Normal People's phenomenal success during Covid-19 restrictions, with host Alex Scott asking Mescal about his first selfie.

"I was on a walk in a park close to where I live," he recounted. "It's an odd thing because you have to also broach the kind of social distancing thing. So you can say 'yes' to a photograph, but also you have to kind of do it selfie style so you're standing two metres apart. So there's a lot of negotiating going on!"

Normal People continues on RTÉ One on Tuesday nights. The adaptation of Sally Rooney's bestseller is available to watch on the RTÉ Player.
