Julie Andrews has said that she suspects that she was protected from the dangers of the casting couch due to being married and raising her children.
Speaking to the Guardian newspaper, the Sound Of Music actress said:"I was certainly aware of tales about the casting couch. But I was so busy working and raising my kids and being married to Blake Edwards that put a protective fence around me, I think."
Andrews has released podcasts of her reading stories for children, called Julie's Library and said she wishes to reach out to children during this time of worry.
I'm thrilled to share two #books on @JuliesLibrary this week! "Bears Don’t Eat Egg Sandwiches" and "The Wolf, the Duck and the Mouse" both explore what happens when unexpected guests arrive. It’s a delightfully funny episode!

Last month, the Oscar-winning actress told the Today Show that the anxiety surrounding Covid-19 is very similar to that which she felt during World War II.
Andrews said: "I feel a very big similarity to the feelings one had then, to the feelings one has now."
"Then I was very concerned and worried and frightened and anxious, and one didn't know where the next wave would come." she added.
