After teasing fans for months Niall Horan has confirmed he and Lewis Capaldi are writing new music together.

In an Instagram Live, the 26-year-old singer let slip that he is penning songs with the Someone You Loved hitmaker via video conferencing apps, revealing that they will be writing together "at some point this week".

''I didn't see him this weekend," he said.

''We usually have a few drinks on a Saturday night on Zoom but we didn't chat this weekend.

''I think I'm writing with him at some point this week. We have a little schedule going.''

The two musicians were set to hit the road together this year for Horan’s Nice To Meet Ya tour before the health crisis meant the run had to be cancelled.

Horan recently released a powerful video alongside a string of well-known Irish artists, including Hozier, Dermot Kennedy and Gavin James,  encouraging the public to "unite by staying apart".
