Piers Morgan has apologised to Lady Gaga via social media after he criticised her attendance at a World Health Organisation conference earlier this month.

The TV journalist questioned Lady Gaga's attendance at a WHO conference on Covid-19 tweeting: "Why? Has she found a cure? Otherwise, we don't need a ****** singer there."

On Sunday, Morgan took to Twitter again, this time to apologise to the Grammy-winning star and said The One World: Together At Home show which she curated was "a perfect illustration of a major star using their profile properly in this crisis."

Morgan replied to a tweet by Lady Gaga, in which she thanked the WHO for letting her be part of the project: "I owe you an apology - this was a great initiative that raised a fortune, entertained people, & will help save lives.

"It was also a perfect illustration of a major star using their profile properly in this crisis. Congrats & sorry for originally questioning it."

The hugely successful One World: Together At Home special aired over the weekend in Ireland on RTÉ, as well as various USA channels and global streaming services.

It raised over €118 million to help fight the coronavirus pandemic with stars like Taylor Swift, Niall Horan, Hozier, Celine Dion, Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncé and many more contributing.
