The Rolling Stones have signed up to play the One World: Together at Home special, joining a line-up that already features music A-listers Paul McCartney, Elton John, Eddie Vedder, Stevie Wonder, Taylor Swift, and Celine Dion.
In a statement on Thursday, the veteran band said, "We are honored to be invited to be part of the One World: Together at Home broadcast - from our homes in isolation."
The eight-hour One World: Together at Home is a series of virtual gigs which are being webcast and televised on Saturday night that aim to raise funds for frontline workers and encourage people to stay at home as the world continues to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Niall Horan, Hozier and Picture This are among the Irish acts who are due to take part and the event will be simulcast on RTÉ2, the RTÉ Player and RTÉ2FM.
The event is curated by Lady Gaga, along with charshow hosts Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel and among the musicians and celebrities also taking part are Billie Eilish, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Samuel L. Jackson, Amy Poehler, Stephen Colbert, Kacey Musgraves, Idris Elba, Heidi Klum, Ben Platt, Kerry Washington, Jimmy Fallon, Ellen DeGeneres, Andrea Bocelli and Jameela Jamil.
