Tom Hardy will make his long-awaited CBeebies' Bedtime Stories return later this month to read six new stories during 'Tom Week'.

Hardy's heartthrob status went into overdrive when he first appeared with his French bulldog Blue on CBeebies in 2016, with his Bedtime Stories watched over a million times on the BBC iPlayer.

He will be back on CBeebies from Monday, April 27 to Friday, May 1, with the date for a sixth and final story yet to be confirmed.

The BBC says his first story on April 27 will be the aptly-titled Hug Me by Simone Ciraolo.

Introducing the story, Hardy says: "Hello. I'm Tom. Sometimes, on a day like this, I feel strong and happy. But on other days, I just need somebody to give me a hug. Tonight's bedtime story is all about a little cactus called Felipe, who just wants a hug too."

Concluding the story in supreme smokeshow style, he says: "So, in the end Felipe found someone to hug. It's not always possible to hug the ones that you love. But they're always there, in your heart."

The BBC says Hardy wanted to help to keep children entertained "at this challenging time".

He will also read:

Under The Same Sky by Robert Vescio and Nicky Johnston

There's A Tiger In The Garden by Lizzy Stewart

Don't Worry, Little Crab by Chris Haughton

The Problem With Problems by Rachel Rooney and Zehra Hicks
