Joe Wicks, who has become a hit on social media with his fitness classes, said that he is looking forward to seeing his family and giving his "mum a cuddle" after social distancing ends.

Speaking to 2FM Breakfast with Doireann and Eoghan, the 34-year-old YouTube star said he finds the massive following that he has gathered on social media over his PE classes to be "proper overwhelming," while revealing that he has gained an impressive "30 million viewers in the last 10 days."

The fitness coach said that he will be donating his ad revenue to the NHS: "I had no idea that I would get so many views. It has been so successful, YouTube give you advertising revenue."

Speaking about how he is handling the isolation he said: "I am normally at home a lot as I do my YouTube videos."

Wicks said with a new baby at home that: "Broken sleep is the killer but if I stopped exercising and eating well, it would be a lot harder. But I feel positive because of exercise."

He said that: "People are struggling with the uncertainty and to me the most powerful thing we have is exercise and it helps people to feel more optimistic."

A few days ago the fitness guru was reported to be about to get a book deal worth more than a million euro.

Wicks has been helping to keep people active during the coronavirus pandemic through his YouTube fitness videos. As a result, he's been courted by publishers keen to profit from his popularity.

A source told the Sunday Mirror: "Publishers know, with the huge success of being the [UK] nation’s PE teacher, he's now a household name and they are desperate to tap him up to release his own range of children's books in time for Christmas this year.

"He has become a very familiar face with thousands of kids and is to PE what Jamie Oliver was to school dinners. It's gold to publishers and offers are already at £1 million."

Wicks recently revealed he's raised more than £80,000 for the UK’s National Health Service from the income raised through his YouTube PE lessons.

The fitness guru - who is also known as The Body Coach - is donating all the money he makes from his online PE With Joe workouts throughout the coronavirus pandemic to the NHS.

He said: "I saw the views and it's unprecedented. YouTube isn't a massive part of my business. It's free content, I love sharing it, but obviously with the views comes more ad revenue.

"I saw the number and I was blown away. I thought that money had to go somewhere special, and it felt right to be the NHS."
