Having revealed that her music career came to an end after she was abused and "held captive", Duffy made a surprise return on Thursday night when she unveiled her new song, Something Beautiful.
The 35-year-old from Bangor in Wales, who had massive hits with songs such as Mercy and Warwick Avenue, revealed earlier this year that she had been "raped and drugged and held captive for some days" and that her career had come to an end.
However, her new song made its debut last night on BBC Radio 2.
In an open letter to DJ Jo Whiley posted on Instagram, she said she was struggling to talk about her ordeal and that she does not plan to release Something Beautiful as a single.
"You may have read the words I wrote a few weeks back," she said in the post. "I do feel freer. Tried to follow up with a spoken interview, but it’s harder than I thought, I will follow up in writing soon."
She added, "I just thought a little something might be nice for people if they are at home, on lockdown."
