It is reported that the cast of Friends' planned reunion special on US streaming service HBO Max in May has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

US entertainment industry publication The Hollywood Reporter said production on the unscripted special would be put back until May at the earliest, with celebrity website People saying that the delay had been confirmed to it by a source.

Friends stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer simultaneously shared the news of the reunion special with their Instagram followers last month.

"It's happening," they wrote in the caption accompanying a flashback photo.

It has been reported that the six stars will receive at least $2.5m each for the special celebration of the comedy phenomenon, which will see the cast sharing their memories of the show.

The special is part of a deal that will see it and all 236 episodes of Friends stream exclusively on HBO Max in the US.
