The Director and writer of A Quiet Place II, John Krasinski, has heaped praise on Cork actor Cillian Murphy in a recent featurette released by Paramount Pictures.

Speaking about casting the Breakfast On Pluto star he said: "Cillian Murphy plays Emmett his talent is so good at all times, we couldn't wait to have him jump in our world."

Krasinski said: "The beauty of Cillian's character is that there was so much loss in his life that he doesn't feel the need to be part of a community."

Speaking about the role to Total Film magazine Murphy said: "I was blown away by it, what I wanted was the audience to say what would I do in that situation."

Murphy, who made his name in Danny Boyle's iconic post-apocalyptic adventure 28 Days Later, told the magazine that he was "blown away" by A Quiet Place, describing it as "unbelievably original".

"I was like, 'I'm going to write an email to John Krasinski, because that was an amazing piece of work'," the Peaky Blinders star continued.

A Quiet Place II is in cinemas Wednesday 18 March.
