Desperate Housewives star Orson Bean has died after being struck by two cars while crossing the road in Venice, California.
According to US media reports the 91-year-old veteran actor was walking in the Venice Boulevard area when he was clipped by a car and fell to the ground.
Other bystanders tried to warn the driver of a second car, but he also struck Bean. Police say the second collision was fatal.
"The car coming westbound did not see him and clipped him and he went down," said Los Angeles Police Department Captain Brian Wendling.
"A second vehicle was coming up, was distracted by people trying to slow him down and then looked up and then a second traffic collision occurred and that one was fatal."
