EastEnders star Jasmine Armfield is leaving her role as Bex Fowler having been with the BBC soap since 2014.

The Sun reports that Armfield is believed to have already filmed her final scenes and that they are due to air next month. 

Armfield said she had a "fantastic time" in Albert Square "but now feels like the right time to try something new".

"I've made friends for life working on the show and shall miss them all," the 21-year-old added.

The soap's executive producer, Jon Sen, said: "It's been an absolute pleasure to work with Jasmine. She's brought something incredibly special to the role of Bex and we will all miss her - both as a friend and colleague. We wish her the best of luck for the future."

EastEnders airs on RTÉ One and BBC One on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
