Saoirse Ronan told RTÉ Entertainment that she shares any awards recognition she gets for her work in Little Women with the film's writer and director Greta Gerwig.

Ronan was nominated for a Golden Globe award for her performance as Jo March in the adaptation of the 1868 novel by Louisa May Alcott, and is being tipped for her fourth Oscar nod.

Gerwig, who also directed Ronan in Lady Bird, was notably absent from the Golden Globes short list, but Ronan attributed her work in the film to Gerwig.

"A huge part of any of the work that any of us have produced in this film, comes from her," Ronan told RTÉ Entertainment.

"Anything that I have gotten recognised for is ours."

On Ronan's nomination, Gerwig said, "I just feel like that's right, she's brilliant in this part."

Little Women is released on December 26.
