Taylor Swift has sent her fans into a tizzy by announcing that she is about to drop a brand new Christmas song.

The hitmaker revealed the news in a video sent to Good Morning America.

Swift said to camera: "Hey, I know this pretty wild, but I've just written a Christmas song. I feel like it's weird to just, like, wait a year to put it out? I don't have anyone to ask right now except for..."

She then turned the camera onto her cat. "Meredith, should I put out a Christmas song, like, now? K, that's hard to tell."

Good Morning America host Lara Spencer then revealed that Swift had written the song over the weekend, "turning it around in record time."

The song will drop at midnight tonight and the full video will debut on GMA tomorrow.

The 29-year-old music star tweeted the full video of her consulting with her cats over the release of the song with the hashtag Christmas Tree Farm, which is presumably the name of the single.

She wrote: "When in doubt, ask the itty bitty pretty kitty committee. When they shun you with silence, ambivalence, and judgmental brush offs... just put the song out anyway. NEW XMAS SONG AND VIDEO (made from home videos 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦) OUT TONIGHT."
