Elsa Pataky, actor Liam Hemsworth's sister-in-law, has said he "deserves much better" following his split from wife Miley Cyrus.
The couple announced they were splitting in August after less than a year of marriage, with Liam filing for divorce 11 days later citing "irreconcilable differences".
Pataky, a Spanish model and actress, is married to Liam's older sibling, fellow Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth, and opened up on how her brother-in-law has been doing since the break-up of his marriage.
While speaking to reporters in Madrid at the launch of of the Christmas campaign of lingerie brand Women's Secret, she said, according to Hola!: "My brother-in-law, well… After a relationship that you've dedicated ten years to, he's a little bit down, but he's coping well.
"He's a strong boy and he deserves the best, I think he deserves much better."

Pataky said that her 29-year-old brother-in-law is being supported well by his tight-knit family.
"You always find support in your family, and he's joined at the hip with his brother, who has been there to give all the strength he needed," she added.
The model and actress also admitted that she and her husband Chris, with whom she shares children India, seven, and five-year-old twins Tristan and Sasha, go through their fair share of "ups and downs".
''Like all couples, we have our ups and downs and our moments that we don't agree on things.
"We just built a house together, which is almost enough to cause a divorce, but we made it through very well", she said.

Liam and Miley, who first met while filming 2010's The Last Song and dated on and off for years before tying the knot in December 2018, announced on August 10 that they were going their separate ways so they can "focus on themselves and careers."
"Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time," a representative for Cyrus told People in a statement.
"Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what's best while they both focus on themselves and careers.
"They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy."
Hemsworth later posted on Instagram that he wished Cyrus "nothing but health and happiness going forward".
