A group of musicians from Sean Cox's hometown of Dunboyne, Co. Meath have come together to record a version of You'll Never Walk Alone to raise money for the critically-injured Liverpool fan.
Sean, a 54 year-old father of three, was left with life-changing injuries after an unprovoked attack before a Champions League semi-final in Anfield in April 2018.
All proceeds from the charity single version of Liverpool fan favourite You’ll Never Walk Alone, which will be released by Dolphin Records, will go to the Seán Cox Rehabilitation Trust. The Trust was established to raise much-needed funds for Seán’s future care.
The driving force behind the YNWA - A Song For Seán project are Gerry Hannigan, a Dunboyne businessman and amateur musician, and Andrew Bass of Central Entertainment Bureau LTD, who is also based in Dunboyne.
Gerry and Andrew, and numerous other local volunteers, came together for a week in Dunboyne’s Oblivion Studios to record a rendition of the song, which Liverpool FC fans around the world have adopted as their anthem.
Commenting on the release, Hannigan said: "This was a special project for all of us involved, especially as Seán is such a popular personality in the Dunboyne community and a close friend to many of us.
"I would like to extend our well wishes to Seán and his family, and to thank all of the musicians, singers and people involved in the production who gave so generously of their time in bringing this special rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone to life."
Bass added: "Liverpool FC have been massively supportive of the various events run by www.supportsean.com and we hope this will be no different."
The single will go on general release in the coming weeks and will also be available to purchase and download online. To buy now, click here.
