Singer Solange Knowles has announced that she and director husband Alan Ferguson "parted ways" earlier this year.
In an Instagram post on Friday, the singer shared the news with her followers, writing: "11 years ago I met a phenomenal man who changed every existence of my life. Early this year we separated and parted ways, (and tho it ain't nan no body business) I find it necessary to protect the sacredness of my personal truth and to live in it fully just as I have before and will continue to do. [Sic]"
"It is unfair to not have power of your own story as you shape and mold [sic] and rewrite it yourself," she continued.
Knowles said she is "leaning into the fear of the unknown and all the glory and power I know exist within God and the universes [sic] grace".
"May all of your transitions no matter how big or small, be kind to you and filled with incredible love and light!" she concluded.
Solange Knowles - the younger sister of Beyoncé - and Ferguson married in 2014. She has a 15-year-old son from her first marriage to Daniel Smith, which ended in divorce in 2007.
Ferguson directed the videos for Solange Knowles' tracks Don't Touch My Hair and Cranes in the Sky and has also helmed Beyoncé promos.
