OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder has admitted that he was joking when he told reporters about a collaboration between Beyonce, Adele and Chris Martin for the band's next album.

Speaking backstage at Global Citizen festival 2019, Tedder was talking about his band's new record, which is due next year, when he suddenly mentioned that Beyoncé, Adele and Martin would all feature on a song together.

The news spread like wildfire, but Tedder has now ironed things out by telling his Instagram followers that he was "utilising sarcasm" when he made it seem as though he had let the news slip in the interview.

"Journalist: 'any cool collaborations on the next @OneRepublic album?' .... Me utilizing 'sarcasm', 'kidding' and 'joke', simultaneously: 'Ya, we have one song featuring Beyonce, Adele, and Chris Martin, but I don't wanna talk about it or give too much away. (sic)'"

He then wrote: "48 hours later", and shared a screenshot of the news coverage about the collaboration before adding: "Come onnnnnn people! (sic)"
