Comedian and actor Steve Martin has said that he ''lost interest in the movies at exactly the point the movies lost interest in me''.
74-year-old Martin told The Times newspaper that his time as a lead actor in films was over despite the fact that he has enjoyed success as movies in every decade since the 70s.
The LA Story star started off in stand-up shows and has taken to the circuit again with his co-star from Three Amigos and Fatherhood Martin Short in a show called The Funniest Show in Town at the Moment, which can be seen in Dublin's 3 Arena next March 11th.
Martin also starred in Parenthood, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Roxanne, LA Story, two Pink Panther films and Planes,Trains and Automobiles.
In recent years, he's received an honorary Oscar and enjoyed success as both author and playwright, while releasing several albums of banjo music, winning a Grammy Award in 2009 for Best Bluegrass Album for The Crow: New Songs for the 5-String Banjo.
Short - whose father was from Armagh - came to fame through Saturday Night Live, before embarking on an eclectic career that has seen him star on Broadway, host his own US daytime talk show and pop up in everything from sitcoms like Arrested Development, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and How I Met Your Mother, to movie roles in Tim Burton's Mars Attacks and Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice.
