Derry pregnancy comedy expected to deliver on world stage

A Bump Along the Way, the Derry pregnancy comedy starring The Commitments' Bronagh Gallagher and newcomer Lola Petticrew, is expected to deliver on the world stage after securing a global sales deal ahead of its international premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

US entertainment industry website Deadline reports that the UK's Great Point Media has agreed a deal to handle worldwide sales for the acclaimed film outside Ireland and the UK.

Due in Irish cinemas on October 11, A Bump Along the Way is the feature directorial debut of Shelly Love and was written by Tess McGowan.

It tells the story of a single mother, Pamela (Gallagher), whose world is turned upside down when she becomes pregnant after a one-night stand with a man half her age - much to the disgust of Pamela's teenage daughter Allegra (Lola Petticrew).

Great Point Media said the film shows "how different generations of women relate to each other, and what we really want from love and from friendship".

The film won Best Irish Feature at the Galway Film Fleadh, with star Petticrew winning the New Talent Award.
