The Great British Bake Off is back, so too is The Affair, while it's cheerio to The Rose of Tralee and Keeping Faith . . .

Pick of the Day

The Great British Bake Off, 8.00pm, Channel 4

Presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig return, this time with a baker's dozen as 13 of the UK's top amateur bakers enter the white tent to tackle challenges set by judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

The extra baker means extra pressure as one week two bakers will be going home. The new season kicks off with Cake Week. First the bakers tackle a fruit cake, but being Bake Off, it's not as simple as it sounds.

Next, under the gingham cloth are the ingredients for their first Technical: creating a retro classic that demands precision and intricate decoration.

Finally, there's a Showstopper round that takes the baker's dozen back to their childhoods as they create the birthday cake of their childhood dreams.

New or Returning Shows

The Affair, 9.00pm, Sky Atlantic & NOW TV

Can't believe this show has lasted for five seasons. One was enough, really.

In the aftermath of last season's events, everyone is coming to terms with the consequences of their choices in this final run, which takes place 20-30 years into the future.

In addition to the returning cast, Anna Paquin stars as Alison and Cole’s now adult daughter Joanie, who returns home as an adult to piece together what really happened to her mother, bringing the whole story full circle.

Saving Lives at Sea, 8.00pm, BBC Two

Every day in the seas around the British Isles, an army of unpaid volunteers put their lives on the line to save those of others.

This series tells the story of the ordinary men and women of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) who are ready to answer their pager’s call and race to the rescue of those in trouble, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, whatever the weather.

Using footage shot on the crews’ own cameras, this series takes us into the heart of the action, capturing the unpredictable work of the RNLI in unique detail.

Ending Tonight

Keeping Faith, 9.00pm, BBC One

The one thing I've learned from two seasons of this Eve Myles-starring legal drama is that Welsh police are very quick to point the finger and flash the handcuffs when there's a dead or missing body.

As the clock ticks on the deal with Corran Energy, Faith races against time to find the woman who could overturn Madlen’s conviction.

DI Breeze gives Evan an ultimatum, while Steve schemes to rid himself and Faith of the Reardons for good. As Tom and Lisa face difficult truths, Faith finally learns the truth behind Will’s murder.

Kathy Burke's All Woman, 10.30pm, Channel 4

Kathy has never had a relationship that's lasted beyond a few years - partly because she's not willing to compromise, "and also because of the farting".

She believes women compromise most in relationships - but now that they have more control over their lives, Kathy wants to find out what this new freedom really means for women and their relationships.

She meets TV presenter Caroline Flack, gigolo Darren, bisexual musician Skin, and Oxford academic Dr Anna Machin. It's one hell of a mixed bag.

Warrior, 10.00pm, Sky One

In the season finale of the fist-flying drama, Ah Sahm rejects his warrior roots and retreats into the netherworld of the Chinese working class.

A guilty Big Bill stands vigil for Lee at the hospital. With the police roughing up tong members in retaliation for their violence, Zing and the Fung Hai make a show of force to compel Mai Ling to honour her partnership.
