TV presenter Noel Edmonds has reached a financial settlement worth a reported £5 million with Lloyds Banking Group following a fraud that occurred in the Reading branch of HBOS in the UK.
It transpired that staff from the Reading branch carried out a £245 million loan scam between 2003 and 2007, destroying several businesses.
The staff were said to have squandered the profits on prostitutes and luxury holidays and were jailed in 2017.
Edmonds claimed that the fraud had destroyed his business, Unique Group. HBOS was subsequently bought by Lloyds, who agreed compensation with the Swap Shop star.
Speaking on the Ray D'Arcy Show last January, Edmonds said that he had considered taking his own life after the fraud.
A statement from Lloyds, on behalf of both parties, said: "Mr Edmonds and Lloyds Banking Group have reached an agreement in their dispute."
Lloyds apologised for the "distress" suffered by Edmonds but would not disclose details of the agreement. The Daily Mail put the figure at £5 million.
Lloyds said it would continue to assist the ongoing police investigation into matters relating to Unique Group and HBOS Reading.
