The producers of The Handmaid's Tale have said that there will be a fourth season of the popular series. The announcement was made by Hulu's US streaming service on social media.
The Dystopian series starring Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss and The Gilmore Girls' Alexis Bledel is adapted from the classic, Booker Prize-nominated novel by Margaret Atwood. It tells of life in Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly the United States.

The episodes of The Handmaid's Tale are divided into sections: night sections are solely about Moss's character Offred, and the other parts of the programme highlight stories of life for the other handmaids. Viewers also see Offred's life before the totalitarian regime took hold.
Atwood's sequel to The Handmaid's Tale, The Testaments, will be published in September and takes place 15 years after the first book.
The current series of The Handmaid's Tale is on RTÉ2 at 10.30pm on Thursdays.
