Filming halted on Fast & Furious after stuntman seriously injured

It is reported that production has now resumed in the UK on the latest instalment of the Fast & Furious franchise after a stuntman was seriously injured and airlifted to hospital. 

Filming of the ninth Fast & Furious movie was taking place at the Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, Hertfordshire, in the UK when the accident occurred on Monday. 

A studio spokesperson said: "We had an injury on the set of Fast & Furious 9 today [Monday] in Leavesden with one of our stuntmen.

"We have halted production for the day to focus on this situation."

A spokesman for East of England Ambulance Service told MailOnline: "An ambulance, three ambulance officer vehicles and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to Leavesden Studios shortly before midday today [Monday], following reports of a man injured in a fall.

"One patient with a serious head injury was transported to the Royal London Hospital by air ambulance."

US entertainment industry website Deadline, quoting unnamed sources, said production resumed on Tuesday.

The high-octane Fast & Furious franchise has grossed more than €4.5 billion at the box office worldwide. Justin Lin, who directed The Fast & Furious 3 - 6, has returned for the ninth instalment, which is due for release on May 22, 2020.

Vin Diesel will reprise his role as Dom Toretto alongside Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, and John Cena.
