Beverly Hills, 90210 star Shannen Doherty will appear in an episode of Riverdale honouring the late Luke Perry.
Perry, who died in March at the age of 52 after suffering a stroke, had been starring as Fred Andrews on Riverdale at the time of his death, and the series is set to pay tribute to him with a special episode at the beginning of season four.
Doherty, who became close friends with Perry after working on Beverly Hills, 90210 together, will play a "very emotional, important role" in the episode.
She shared the news on Instagram alongside photos of her with the late star saying, ''I am deeply honored to pay tribute to Luke on Riverdale. The care in which this show takes in honoring his memory is beautiful. He is missed. Today. Tomorrow. Forever. (sic)"

Riverdale's showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa explained the decision to enlist Doherty for the episode, revealing that Perry had previously wanted to get her on board for the drama.
"Luke and Shannen were really, really good friends. Luke had talked to me on and off over the years about trying to find something for Shannen on the show and when we were putting together this special episode, we kind of wanted to include special people from Luke's life," he said.
"There was a very emotional, important role and we sent the script to Shannen and she read it and loved it and said, 'I want to do it,' so it's about honouring their friendship a little bit. I know she was really moved when she read the script and immediately said yes."
