Max Wright, best known for his role as the dad in sitcom ALF, has passed away aged 75 at his home in California.
Family sources told entertainment website TMZ that the actor had battled cancer for a number of years and was in remission after being diagnosed with Lymphoma in 1995.
Wright is most famous for his role as the adoptive father to Alf, a back-talking alien puppet who crash-landed on Earth.
The hit show ran from 1986 to 1990 on NBC and featured Wright in every season. His other television credits include episodes of shows such as Norm, Murphy Brown, Friends, Quantum Leap, Misfits of Science, Cheers, Buffalo Bill, Taxi and The Drew Carey Show.
Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane took to Twitter to praise Max as a ''hilarious and talented actor''.
He tweeted: ''RIP Max Wright - A hilarious and talented actor. Sad news to hear of his passing. Who will keep ALF in check now?''

American screenwriter and executive producer of The Simpsons, Al Jean, said Wright was "always a pleasure to work with".

Wright's death comes two years after his wife Linda Ybarrondo, who he married in 1965, passed away from breast cancer in 2017. The couple had two children together, Ben and Daisy.
