Stars of the stage outing of Dirty Dancing told RTÉ Entertainment that "there's so much nerves" before they do the iconic lift and revealed they are relieved it's "never gone wrong" during a live show.
Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story on Stage, which runs at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre from June 24 - 29, stars recent musical theatre graduate Michael O'Reilly as leading man Johnny Castle and Kira Malou as idealistic Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman.
The much-loved story, made famous by Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze in the classic '80s movie, has stood the test of time - but why do audiences keep on coming back for more?
"If you look in the audience it's a lot of women the majority of the time," Kira said.

"I think it's because everyone wants to be Baby, everyone wants to be with the cool guy and be whisked off their feet, and he comes back at the end and he claims his love for Baby.
"I think every girl wants the guy to publicly announce that he loves her. I think everyone loves watching the romance unravel."
"Everyone wants to see the lift - it's so iconic to the film and the stage production."
"There's so much nerves before and there's a moment where we look at each other and we nod and we just pray that it's going to happen. Touch wood it's never gone wrong!"

Speaking about preparing for the epic lift, Michael said there's "so much adrenaline and excitement" running through his body.
"Time of Your Life starts with me running through the auditorium and I jump on stage. For me, there's so much adrenaline and excitement and the audience are right there, and you've taken them on this journey.
"It's really about finding that composure because you've just danced for about three minutes from the beginning of Time of Your Life and when we get to that moment we just take a breath and look at each other and have this nod."
"The reaction from the audience is something I've never experienced with any other show I've seen or been a part of. It's really special," he added.
