Bobby, who was previously played by Eliot Carrington, was at the centre of the 'Who Killed Lucy?' storyline following the death of his sister. He later confessed to the crime - after attacking his adoptive mother, Jane.
EastEnders' Executive Producer Jon Sen said: "Clay's an exciting new talent with a charisma and an intensity that injects a new energy into the fascinating character of Bobby Beale.
"We can't wait for audiences to see Bobby return home and the impact his arrival will have on the Square."
Bobby makes his EastEnders return on RTÉ One and BBC One on Thursday, June 13.
EastEnders airs on RTÉ One and BBC One on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
