Benhaffaf twins have a friend in Tom Hanks

Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks has made a special Toy Story video for twin boys in Ireland who were born conjoined.

Dubbed 'The Little Fighters' Hassan and Hussein Benhaffaf have had their Toy Story figures with them through over 50 operations.

To a soundtrack of Randy Newman's You Got a Friend in Me, Hanks - the voice of Woody in the Toy Story films - created a video for the brothers from Cork and signed Woody dolls for each of them.

The nine-year-olds' friend Miceál O'Hurley, who runs ice cream parlour Fantastic Flavours in Youghal, told RTÉ News how the video came about.

"We know the Benhaffaf twins and they're friends with our children," he explained. "We know their needs, and it's a great story.

"We knew Tom Hanks and we knew the boys loved Buzz Lightyear and Woody, so connecting them with Tom Hanks made a lot of sense."

The boys' mother Angie said they were overwhelmed with joy when they saw the video. The signed Woody dolls are expected to arrive at their home this week, along with a note from their new friend.

Toy Story 4 is due in cinemas on June 19.
