Former Coronation Street star Qasim Akhtar has urged people to wear helmets after he was injured in a quad bike accident at the weekend.
The actor, best known for his role as Corrie's Zeedan Nazir, is recovering after sustaining a fractured arm and bruised lung.
Posting an Instagram picture of himself in hospital, he wrote: "Took a major L [Lesson] yesterday. Had an accident on the quad bike.
"Split my lower abdominal, bruised lung, fractured arm and a couple [of] deep wounds."
Akhtar said he was counting his blessings after a "huge wakeup call".
"I'm already on the road to recovery and even though I'm yet to find the silver lining, I like to see every negative situation I find myself in as a blessing in disguise," he continued.
"God works in mysterious ways.
"My appreciation for life just reached a new level.
"I urge people riding quads to wear helmets cos [sic] even though legally you don't need to, that saved me from a fatal injury for real."
