Coming up in Tuesday's episode, Melanie is surprised to see Alex in the shop during the day, asking him: "Alex, why aren't you in school? Where's your uniform?"

"I got a job. At the recording studio", he answers, much to Melanie's surprise.
"But Paul said Steve told him you quit", Melanie responds.
"This is a different place, a real job", he fires back.
"That's ridiculous, Alex don't be stupid", she implores.
"It's not stupid, I'm not stupid", Alex responds, and Melanie scrambles, saying: "No you're not, I'm sorry, but you're going to be studying for your Leaving Cert, you don't have time for this studio thing. And you shouldn't be bunking off school anyway."
"I'm not bunking off, I'm not wearing my uniform because I'm not going to school anymore. So you don't have to worry about the Leaving, because I won't be doing it. I'll learn more in the studio. It's actually what I want to do", he says.
When Melanie begs him to listen to her, he shoots back: "No I told you, I said it, I want to quit school and I want to get a job, and it's a great job."
