The author of Bird Box, Josh Malerman, has said that he is writing a sequel to Bird Box called Malorie inspired by the success of the film on Netflix.
Malerman has even released an image of the cover for the book when he announced his plan on Twitter.
I spilled the beans in an interview with @esquire: MALORIE is an idea I've had for a very long time and it felt completely right to write her now. pic.twitter.com/TrcRD7txco

The Sandra Bullock-starring film was the most successful release on Netflix and hopefully once the book is written fans can be yet again delighted with another gripping film.
The author said that he was inspired to write the sequel after he watched the film on Netflix.
Speaking to Esquire magazine the writer said: "I wanted to get to know (Malorie) even better. At the end of the movie, I turned to my girl Allison and said, 'I want to know what happens next!' and she's like, 'Well, you know, you could make that happen', so it really was this warm feeling."
After the release of the film authorities in many countries warned of the dangers of Birdbox challenge which entailed people going around with a blindfold as people attempted to carry out stunts to emulate the film.
Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes.
