Sunday night viewing has always been top notch across the pond in the UK - and two enduring shows have announced that they'll be returning for another run.

Current runs of both Endeavour and Call the Midwife ended last night (Sunday March 3), but were also confirmed to return, so fans can look forward to more period drama over the coming years.

A seventh season for Inspector Morse prequel Endeavour - which goes out on Sundays on UTV and on non-Champions League Tuesdays on Virgin Media One - will see young Morse and co entering the 1970s.

Creator Russell Lewis says: "We’re thrilled ITV has asked #TeamEndeavour to continue to add to the Casebook of Colin Dexter’s immortal creation, and take E Morse and Oxford’s Finest into a new decade of decimalisation, package holidays, the Oil Crisis, Blackouts, Three Day Weeks, and Europa Endlos."

Call The Midwife, the much-loved drama about the nurses and midwives in London’s East End, has been confirmed to return for at least two more seasons, bringing the total up to eleven and keeping the show on TV until 2022 at least.

Creator and writer Heidi Thomas said: "Even after all these years, it still feels as though Call the Midwife has more truth to tell, more tears to cry, more life to celebrate, and more love to give.

"We are blessed with the best cast, crew, and audience a show could wish for, and I could not be more excited about our future."
